UVC DISINFECTION FOR BIOMEK
Easy installation for Biomek i5 and i7
EFSEN has developed a plug-and-play solution for integrating UVC disinfection into Biomek i5 and i7 systems, helping prevent cross-contamination between batches.
As the need for additional disinfection after cleaning Biomek robots grows, adding a UVC disinfection cycle offers an effective solution.
Once installed, EFSEN delivers a UV dose to all exposed surfaces sufficient to achieve a 5-log reduction of the most common lab microbes in just 10–15 minutes.
Installation is straightforward and can be carried out by a local electrician: the existing top plates are simply replaced with plates fitted with EFSEN lamps and a control unit. The control unit allows the disinfection time to be adjusted as needed, along with manual activation of the UVC cycle.
To minimize shadow areas, it’s also necessary to run an empty cycle on the Biomek robot after installation.

UV DOSE EXPOSURE FOR DISINFECTION
Different viruses and bacteria require different UV dose exposures to achieve a 5-log (or greater) inactivation. With EFSEN technology installed, the majority of microbes can be eliminated to a 5-log reduction in under 10 minutes — and the system’s design even allows people to work in the near vicinity of the machine during a disinfection cycle.
Directly exposed surfaces receive a dose of 270–398 mJ/cm² over 600 seconds, sufficient to disinfect even some of the more resistant bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores.
