Ultraviolet (UV) light sits just beyond the range of human vision, spanning 10–400 nm. The UV spectrum is divided into three bands — UVA (315–400 nm), UVB (280–315 nm), and UVC (200–280 nm). At UVCbyEFSEN, we harness the UVC band for disinfection.
UVC is often called “germicidal radiation” because it effectively inactivates viruses and bacteria by disrupting their DNA and RNA, preventing replication. The wavelength 253.7 nm has proven the most efficient for this purpose.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS!
UV light — and UVC light in particular — is highly harmful to the eyes and skin. People and living organisms within 10 m of the UVC source must be properly shielded. To guard against reflected radiation, anyone working near the system must wear a UV-resistant face shield (a clear or colored polycarbonate full-face shield), full-coverage work clothing, and gloves, so that no skin or eyes are exposed to UV. UVC light must never be used to clean living organisms.
